"Hey, Ib, what's wrong? Don't just sit there....I'm sure there's an exit close!...
I'll do my best for you...we'll get out together! Yeah! Ib?
...Hey! Get up!"
(ssssst! Mary....I kinda hate to tell you this but...
I think she broke...)
Yes, it's the durned doll room again.
Recently kouri updated Ib to 1.04...
and he added two new endings....
and both of them were real downers.
Darn you, kouri. Darn you.
This was tricky.
First off, I'm not used to drawing poses like this. Sitting poses always kill me, and I'm not used to drawing people leaning down like that either. So I had to try to figure that out. I still think it looks a bit awkward.
And then, I was debating the whole time on how I was going to handle the room.
Originally I was just gonna leave it background-less. This is really about Mary trying to get Ib up and not about the doll room itself. But then I wound up realizing I should probably draw the actual room. And then I was going to draw the bunnies. But then I realized that Ib's really the only one who ever sees the bunnies (Mary and Garry both see the dolls as they actually are), and after Ib just kinda gives up she ceases to do anything else and what follows is all focused on Mary. Since it's focused on Mary and Mary actually sees the dolls as they are, I ought to draw the dolls.
But then I thought the dolls were distracting so I took them out. And then I realized that it looked really ugly without them in it. So I put them back.
It's a bit tricky to draw the dolls without them taking over because they're really strikingly-colored in the game. And they have those red eyes and mouths and red is a very eye-catching color, so even if you stick one in a corner it will still be distracting. I decided the best way to handle this was to de-emphasize the coloring on them by making the values on the red and blue on them really similar. Since Ib is wearing red and she's sitting in the middle, she pops out compared to the dolls. And Mary is wearing green, which is red's opposite on the color wheel, so Ib isn't really distracting from Mary too much particularly since Mary's the one actually doing something.
....that was my plan at any rate.
I also couldn't help putting in some little details concerning the little treasure hunt. That doll over there has her stomach ripped open. One of the other dolls is in a puddle of blue paint. Woop.
As for the picture frame....
If I drew the giant doll even a little bit she would be VERY distracting so I'm just showing a corner of the picture frame. I don't even know if she's supposed to be in or out of it now because Ib was seeing bunnies. Goodness knows what the room is actually supposed to look like right now.
